Social Media Campaign

Grassroot solutions are community-based solutions that people can use to solve problems related to human-elephant conflict. For example, people can use social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to alert people of crop-raiding elephants and how to protect themselves.

I post my infographic to Twitter. Images and data are always easier to understanding the problem.

When I was researching, I found this article astonishing. It said that people who would actually buy ivory are those that said they wouldn't buy.

The SMC assignment asked us to take two days to research the organizations, two days for problems, two days for solutions, and one day for infographic.

Problems

Human and elephants' conflicts are a result of habitat loss and fragmentation. There is lethal retaliation against elephants. Elephants have lost majority of their land to humans.

Even though the poaching was banned, evidence of continued poaching of elephants was found in several parts of Africa. Poaching for ivory is very serious and needs to stop now.
