I found this article through keyword "elephants and poaching". This article is excellent on comparing elephants and rhinos. I have always wanted to do research on elephants poaching. Because I could never understand how could human be so cruel to kill the most innocent species on the Earth just for money and profits. I wanted to raise alarm on everyone on this planet to save the elephants.
The population of elephants and rhinos have largely declined. The main reason was people poaching for ivory and rhino horns. This study models the relationships between financial gains, detection and penalties for poaching rhinos and elephants in Luangwa Valley, Zambia. Researchers wants to know the effects of human profits to the death of animals, and law enforcement to poaching for ivory and rhino horns. In the article, researchers show that a penalty which varies with the output of a poacher is, in theory, a more effective tool against poaching than a fixed penalty. However, the probability of capture is a highly significant factor in the poacher's decision to hunt. If every poachers got caught, the amount of poaching would largely declined. In this way, we could help the endanger elephants and rhinos. This could help my later on research a lot. Not I am considering on comparing elephants and rhinos on the matter of poaching in Africa. It would be more interesting when it comes to comparing.
I found that some articles are not free. I found that some articles have to access on university library. But I wonder why we need these steps to access articles. Can't we share it to everyone?
