Bird Brain

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

People always have this misunderstanding that birds are not as smart as humans, because they have such a small brain and they don't speak a language. But through the video "Bird Brain", a lot of researches is done on birds. We now have a new understanding of them. It turns out we share a lot of characteristics with them. Birds also know how to use tools to solve problems just like humans. They can learn from observing others just like humans. They work together as a unit to obtain food (31:20). Each bird has their role. By working together, every bird has their function. In the article "friendship", it states that animals can have friendship with other species. In the video, the cow lost his partner and he friended with the girl to go through the grief.

Hi Phoebe, I enjoyed your concise recap of the Bird Brain video. Like you, I was also amazed to see how the crow reacted to the loss of a loved one and how these birds are able to cope with loss. You could improve the post by explaining the experiments done on the birds in order to clarify what you mean by "birds know how to use tools." Hope you have a great week 4!

Hi Phoebe, I hope you are doing well! While watching the video, I could not help but think about how similar we are to birds. It is truly amazing to see another species other than us doing the things we do.

Hey Phoebe! I also found it very interesting that we share a lot of similarities with birds. They are definitely underestimated!
