This week, I focus on retweeting and tweeting a lot of post about the Earth day, since today is the Earth day! I hope through this approach, people could be able to pay attention on the Earth, not only global warming, but also endangered species. I tweeted one about the African elephants. According to the IUCN, they are now put under the red list. African elephants were listed "vulnerable species" before to ask the public to pay attention: if we don't do something, the situation will become worse. But the elephants couldn't escape the fate: killing and poaching made them now on the red list.
I responded to Sunny's week 4 reflection on how she learned a new perspective to view animals behavior and intelligence. I also like how she was comparing the two smart species together -- elephants and parrots. I think it would make a great theme. I also responded to Kailea's bird brain post. I like how we all pick the same idea -- social group similarities -- to make connection to the TIME article. I guess it's because we all care about our society very well. Lastly, I responded to Andrea's week 3 recap. We all the the same chapter on Safina's book -- "Whines and Pet Peeves". I think she has come up an excellent idea about comparing human and animal thought.

Hi Phoebe, I never thought this species of elephant would be on the endangered list because I have always thought of Africa as the continent with the world's most elephants. It is very sad to hear that their numbers have dwindled in recent years. I would like to hear more about what it means for a species to be on the red list, and whether or not there is usually hope for animals in this dangerous tier. Hope you have a great week 5!
